Answer

01

Yes

02

No

I think definitions of neurodiversity can beincluded in the bill including conditions such as adhd etc

03

Yes

I think education Health and Social care should of course carry out the bill. But it needs to reach farther, to emergency services such as the police force, and to employers across sectors. I think the bill needs to protect Autistic people in every setting bg without limitation.

04

Yes

I think with the autism strategies and other legislation and guidance out there - that IS NOT working, this bill needs to have the weight to carry a consequence for not meeting the needs of autistic people. Diagnosis, support, services, education  the lis

05

I think it is important that the strategy is written well. However we already have two autism strategy documents which unfortunately hve yet to make a positive difference. Even adherence to NICE guidelines which have been in existence for so me time would

07

It would be better if it took immediate effect. By the time the strategy and guidance etc is written we are looking at probably a year or longer before anything takes effect. A year is a long time, particularly when early intervention is key. Children and

08

I think the current NICE guidance is a good benchmark for timescales. However - I would worry about individuals being rushed through to diagnosis in some cases where it may be appropriate to spend more time assessing etc. As long as there is provision for this and it doesn’t lead to a dilution of quality of assessment and diagnosis I agree.

09

Not sure

I think if the individual and their family WANT an assessment during this time yes. Some individuals may not want this.

10

Yes

11

I think we need specialist autism professionals. It is a complex and nuanced condition and often generalised consultants and professionals are not adequately experienced in the field to recognise the many varying presentations.

12

I think for myself personally the fact I don’t have a learning disability or low iq etc means I am seen as coping. Support is targeted  at very specific groups and things like training and day service provision is woefully limited. I wouldn’t want to attend or qualify to attend some of the provision in my area. Basic skills or trades tend to be it. It is assumed if you have intelligence above this then you don’t need help it seems.

13

Yes

15

It should be written on the Bill.

16

Yes

I think they should be allowed to ask but consent to share information should be obtained.

17

It should happen all the time.

Every three years? Really?

That makes no sense. I’m not autistic once every three years!

Research from NAS shows the UK population is becoming highly ‘aware’ of autism. Awareness is not enough. We need understanding and acceptance. The welsh government should be responsible for aiding this understanding every single day.

18

I hope it will be good for me. And my daughter. And my many friends and colleagues in the Autistic community. But I worry it won’t make a difference if not worded strongly and implemented stringently.
